Early Years Educator
My name is Megan and I have been part of Hanborough Pre School since September 2021 after working as dental nurse for 10 years. I have lived in Long Hanborough for 5 years and enjoy the community spirit it holds and those quiet evenings after an exciting day.
I really enjoy working with younger children on a daily basis and watching how they develop within their time spent with us, it truly is amazing watching them grow and knowing I have been a tiny part of that makes me feel extremely proud.
In my spare time I love to cook and bake with my children and regularly prepare dinners on the weekend with my daughter for my family to enjoy. I also enjoy local quiz night with friends and other social outings.

Early Years Educator
Working at Hanborough Pre school is my first official role in childcare but I have previously gained experience volunteering at toddler groups alongside raising my four children. Hanborough Pre School allows me to combine my personal experience with professional practices, with a focus on creating a nurturing and rich learning environment for the children.
My interest in this field is fuelled by my love for sparking creativity and curiosity in children through engaging play activities. Understanding that each child possesses a unique imagination, I strive to provide an environment that allows them to explore, express, and expand their creativity freely.
I love working at Hanborough pre school because of the fulfilment it brings, the positive people around, and the dynamic fun-filled atmosphere that fills our Pre School.

Our Committee
Emma Jackson- Chair of the Committee
I have a degree in Early Childhood and Youth Studies having previously worked and managed early years settings. Over the last 28 years I have remained within women's and children's health and education, laterly as a teacher. A mum of four and grandmother to one, I know how important and influential the early years are to a child's future; hence my involvment in the pre-school. It is important to me that children have good quality experiences and interactions that grow curiosity and give them the skills to be good problem solvers, resilient and adaptable. I really enjoy being part of the preschool committee, helping to make decisions and working with the staff team to ensure that the children have a good quality of education that will give them the tools to be successful in the future.

Rachel Ealey Bennett- Safeguarding Committee Lead
Hi, I'm Rachel, and I've been a serving member of our preschool committee since 2018, and have responsibility for safeguarding within my role. Having grown up in Long Hanborough over the past 38 years, the village community is such a special part of where we live. I'm now raising my two wonderful daughters here, who keep me on my toes
With a background in Sports Science, my passion for teaching through martial arts and sports led me into a career in education. Over the past 13 years, I’ve served as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in both primary and secondary education, drawing on this experience to support our preschool committee.
I’m committed to creating a safe, nurturing environment where all our children can thrive and feel secure. I believe in the power of community and the importance of working together to achieve the best possible outcomes for our young ones.
Poppy Shirlaw
I have lived in Long Hanborough since 2020, and joined the committee, after my oldest of three joined the pre-school, in 2021. I love being a part of this wonderful heart of the community, and having the privilege to see it continue to flourish.
George McDonald- Fundraising Lead
After completing her psychology degree George went in to nannying and maternity nursing while living in London. After her first daughter was born George moved out to Long Hanborough where she works part time as a sales director in her families furniture business. George wanted to get on board with the pre school committee for two main reasons. Firstly to have a more involved and present role in the child care setting her children attend. Secondly to help the pre school raise the much needed funds they need. The teachers go above and beyond for the children and George wanted to do her small bit to help raise funds for an incredible pre school.
“The committee are very friendly, inviting and attentive with everything they do. I was thrilled to be asked to support on the committee and hope I can be a huge help over the next few years”.
